Razorback Landcare Group was formed in 2005 as there was an obvious need for property owners to have support to tackle the weed problems on their acreages. Of particular concern was the proliferation of African Olive and also Lantana.

Razorback Landcare works with multiple landowners on properties usually ranging from 5 to 25 acres in the Razorback area to help promote local bushland corridors. These works typically involve the removal of African Olive and Lantana either by hand pulling, cutting, and painting with Glyphosate or drilling/frilling to inject poison. Planting is also undertaken with plants from Wollondilly Community Nursery.

The best thing about the group is the social side, where we partake of lunch provided by the host landowner and usually stay on, catching up on all the local gossip, until well into the afternoon.

Volunteers should wear sturdy work clothes and shoes including a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, plus a hat. Gloves are provided, as well as all hand tools.

Landcare working days are somewhat fluid but usually once a month on a Saturday or Sunday, from 9am-1pm.
